Yerala Projects Society (YPS) is an accredited NGO with United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). YPS has successfully taken up activities in one of the remote, desertification prone, neglected, poor and backward areas of Sangli district. In the process of developing this area, linking livelihoods of villagers with re-establishing biodiversity has been the focus area of work taken up by YPS. This has brought about 170 acres of barren land under green cover. It has saved more than 2,00,000 kWh of electricity by promoting electronic ballasts in place of traditional Copper / Aluminium wound tube light chokes.
