Vyankatrao Bhatanel started his work by protecting neglected trees of the Nashik Municipal Corporation. This transformed into an everyday routine to educate people of the importance and utility that trees provide. He planted more than one lakh trees with his own expenses and distributed more than 14000 Sparrow nests in and around Sangamner, Aurangabad. On 5th June 2015, World Environment Day, he planted 11000 trees in a single day.
