He has been associated with BAIF Development Research Foundation in Pune as a Specialist and Senior Thematic Programme Executive, for more than 17 years and works on Research and extension on agrobiodiversity for nutrition, livelihoods, and climate change. He is a distinguished member of the Research Advisory Committee and the Management Committee of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, and the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, Government of India, New Delhi. His research in pursuit of food security focuses on identifying various traditional crop cultivars (plant varieties cultivated with selective breeding) resilient to climate change, withstanding adverse weather conditions and erratic rains, particularly in the tribal belts of Maharashtra.
