Dr. V.N. Shinde, the esteemed Registrar of Shivaji University, is a distinguished figure with a multifaceted interest in environmental conservation. His noteworthy administrative career in renowned institutions, attests to his leadership and commitment. Dr. Shinde’s contributions extend far beyond administration, encompassing research in cryogenics and environmental protection.  

Dr. Shinde, recognized for his love for trees, made substantial contributions to environment conservation. Starting from 1999 to 2003, he oversaw the planting of diverse trees at Shivaji University's Solapur sub-center and established orchards while serving at Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded.  Later as the chief of Shivaji University's Garden Department, he initiated the planting of 1,500 teak trees and curated the "Chancellor's Park" featuring 200 coconut trees. 

Dr. Shinde’s exceptional water conservation efforts during the last six years by filling lakes and reviving water bodies, have rendered Shivaji University self-sufficient. The university now boasts of two lakes, 10 wells, and 24 farm ponds. He played a crucial role in supplying clean water to citizens of Kolhapur during the floods of 2019 and 2021. 

Dr. Shinde’s commitment to environmental causes is underscored by his prolific writing spanning three decades. His literary contributions, including five books, illuminate the intersection of science and environmental consciousness. 

Dr. V.N. Shinde is commended for his outstanding contributions to environmental conservation, evidenced by his tireless efforts for plantation, water conservation, and environmental literacy.
