Dr. Nitin Popat founded the Nature Club at Porbandar in 2009. Within 5 years of his presidential tenure, he rescued more than 5000 snakes, 7 crocodiles and hundreds of birds through club activities. He distributed artificial bird nests free of cost. The club treated hundreds of injured birds.
