Dr. A. J. T. Johnsingh

Dr. A.J.T. Johnsingh Environmental Scientist from Tamil Nadu is a living encyclopaedia of Indian Wildlife. After obtaining a Masters degree in Zoology from Madras Christian College, Tamil Nadu, he taught Zoology in an Undergraduate College in Tamil Nadu from 1968 to 1976. This was followed by a 3-year study on Asiatic Wild Dogs or Dholes in Bandipur Tiger Reserve, Karnataka, for his Ph. D. and an 18-month field research project on Raccoons and Opossums at Front Royal under the Smithsonian Institution Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program. On returning to India, from 1982 to 1985, he worked with the Bombay Natural History Society on their Asian Elephant project. Between March 1985 and October 2005, he worked with Wildlife Institute of India as Head, Wildlife Biology faculty and then later as Dean, Faculty of Wildlife Sciences.
