Chandra Kishore Patil is a resident of Nashik who single-handedly dissuades people from dumping garbage into the Nandini river, a tributary of the Godavari after Dussehra festival, for the last 5 years. Facing the ire of local people, he stands on the bridge overlooking the river for many hours at a stretch, with a whistle in hand, and stops people from disposing of garbage into the river. His selfless dedication to do his bit towards the noble cause of keeping the river clean is an inspiration to all. His efforts have been highly appreciated by PM Narendra Modi on his Mann Ki Baat program.
