Babasaheb Gaikwad of Sangli holds a degree in Zoology and a diploma in Forest Management, too. After serving in the Indian military he joined the Forest Dept of Maharashtra as a range officer. During those years he developed a flair for nature photography and tried his hand in forest conservation and cultivation, plantation, soil conservation, growing medicinal plants etc. He helped reduce the acute pollution faced by the Khopoli region by undertaking tree plantation drives. A photo clicked by him won the 3rd prize at ‘Vasundhara Festival’ 2012 in Pune.
