Kirloskar Vasundhara Mitra 2023

AVANI is a registered NGO established in 1994 by Prof. Arun Chavan. Since then, this organization has worked for the destitute and deprived sections of society. His team, including President Anuradha Bhosale, fights for child rights, actively prevents child exploitation, labour, trafficking, and female infanticide, and the team has successfully rescued 560 child labourers and provided education and health care facilities to 6,700 nomadic migrant children and school dropouts. In collaboration with Ekati (AVANl's sub-NGO), his organisation has launched a waste management project in Kolhapur city where dry & wet waste is segregated on a daily basis. While more than 300 kg. usable plastic is sent for recycling, 3500 kg organic manure is made from the wet waste per month. This project benefits more than 40 women waste pickers directly and around 800 women indirectly.
