Engineer Surendra is a social activist cum social reformer. He is multifaceted person with professional Energy Engineering qualification along with bachelor’s degree in Sociology plus master’s in management science and M. Phil. In Green Energy Management. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Energy Management Technology as well as master’s degree in English Literature & Journalism.
Surendra is a life-time member of 1) Indian Water Works Association, Mumbai, 2) Indian Association of Environmental Association C/o. NEEERI, Nagpur, 3) Natural Resources Development Co-op Society, Hyderabad.
He is a founder member of NGO called UPAJ (Urja, Paryavaran, Jal, Bhusawal), mainly working in the field of conservation and management of Energy, Environment, Water, Forest, Wildlife management, eye & body donation as well as organ donation. Actively engaged in carbon emission, global warming & climate change awareness campaigns in colleges, schools, public places since last 25 years. Engaged in writing thought provoking articles on conservation & management of energy, environment, water, wildlife, birds & climate change in various newspapers for creating awareness in the society. Also engaged in photography & photojournalism. Founder member of the ‘Satpuda Bachav Kruti Samiti, Jalgaon.
He has worked with Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) Govt. of India, Maha Urja Govt. of Maharashtra and PCRA (Petroleum Conservation Research Association) and with local NGOs in the Khandesh region. He has organized seminars, workshops, conferences, mobile exhibitions related to nature, environment, eco-friendly green energy, water and rainwater harvesting.
Surendra is actively engaged in solar electrification of the huts of tribals in the remote hamlets of the Satpuda moutains of Khandesh region. He also works for tribal community upliftment. Worked as a technical member on Renewable Energy District Advisory Committee, Jalgaon District under MNRE. He formed renewable energy clubs in the engineering colleges & schools. Guidance to NSS Green Army (Harit Sena), scout guides, and volunteers in colleges & schools for watershed management, construction of bandharas using soil & stones in villages for rainwater harvesting purpose.
