Though he had done his masters in History and Sociology, he is committed to the environmental conservation of Goa state right from beginning. He was on different committees and organizations working for environmental and natural conservation. He has delivered more than 4000 lectures and presented slideshows in different parts of Goa and border areas of Karnataka and Maharashtra to create awareness among the various rural as well as urban communities on the environmental issues. From 1998, he initiated movement with the help of Bombay Natural History Society to get new areas to be declared as Mhadei and Netravali Wildlife Sanctuaries. Through the community participation and educating them he encouraged their morale to conserve and protect the scared groves of Goa.
