Founded in 2008, the Nature Conservation Society functions in the Sangli district. It rescues wild animals that are wounded or distressed due to venturing into human habitats and helps re-establish them in their natural surroundings. In case the animals can’t be treated, they are sent to the Rajiv Gandhi Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre at Katraj near Pune, after getting permission from the Forest Dept. So far, the society has given new life to birds, small mammals and snakes.
